Having always had a deep love
for public service, Mark served three years as Connecticut’s 138th
District State Representative. During that time, Boughton achieved a
perfect voting record in the General Assembly, where he was ranking
member of the Environment Committee, as well as a member of the Education
Committee. While in office, Mayor
Boughton has been committed to the revitalization of downtown,
infrastructure improvement, retiring the skating rink debt, blocking
local casino development, improving neighborhoods and citizen-government
technology as well as a top-notch educational system. His “People Over
Politics” philosophy has evolved into a bi-partisan form of governing. In the last two years, Mayor
Boughton has committed himself to downsizing and reorganizing our
government, solid financial management, upgrading and modernizing our
schools, enacting new legislation to protect our children and our
neighborhoods, delivering new customer service tools such as Cityline
311, phone and email notification, Danbury Television (DTV) and drastic
public safety improvements. Boughton is devoted to making Danbury the “greatest place to live, work, and be educated.” The Mayor is married to Phyllis Boughton who is his biggest supporter. Phyllis is also the owner and manager of Connecticut Kitchen and Bath located in Danbury.
